About Us
Thomas Müller has over 20 years of experience working with hearing technology and particularly enjoys challenges and opportunities that leverage his expertise in the field. Thomas originally started out in Switzerland as a Precision Engineer, and further qualifications in Electronics and Microelectronics provided him with an opportunity to join a leading Swiss hearing aid manufacturer where he could focus on specialist hearing aid repairs and manufacturing.
After extensively travelling around the world, Thomas chose to settle in New Zealand in 1989 and joined a major audiology retail clinic to extend his knowledge on all brands and makes of hearing aid technology. While in this role, Thomas refined his knowledge on the comparative quality of hearing aid technology through visiting various manufacturers in the USA and Europe.
In recognition of his significant experience in hearing technology, Thomas was invited in 1994 to join a leading hearing aid manufacturer, where he established a world-class production and service support for nationwide distribution with significant growth for the company. In this role, he became aware of the decreasing age of clients who required hearing aids, and became interested in hearing protection and prevention measures for deteriorating hearing.
Thomas established his own audiology practice in November 2004.
In this new role, Thomas was then able to invest significant time and effort in activities that he considered important, especially in the poorly understood area of hearing protection. There are two major types of hearing protection - the first is about the need to still hear perfectly but at a volume that will not impact negatively on one's hearing (this type of hearing protection is explained further in www.dont losethemusic.co.nz); the second is all about the requirement to partially or totally block out sound which is what this website is all about.
Being a keen home handyman, and having personally completed his house renovations himself, Thomas experienced first hand the noise volumes and intensity that builders and tradespeople have to deal with. Unfortunately, Thomas also indulged in other equally noisy leisure activities that included carrying out panel beating on his classic Mercedes and visiting noisy night-clubs. All of this resulted in his thoroughly researching and testing out the hearing protection available that would ensure a discreet fit while allowing full participation and adequate communication in all activities.
From Thomas' viewpoint, it is mandatory that he uses the appropriate hearing protection all the time “I urge everyone to protect their hearing from noise abuse, especially if it is while doing your job or in pursuit of an enjoyable hobby. When you realise that your hearing is going - or gone - it will be too late to prevent it. Recognise your situation, and “PLUG ME IN”.
